National Honor Society Induction Ceremony 2019-2020
On October 2nd, 2019, the Strivers Chapter of the TASIS Dorado National Honor Society inducted 25 new members and installed their new board. NHS president Mariana González gave a warm welcome message to the audience. The beautiful induction ceremony celebrated the NHS student’s achievements inside and outside of the classroom, honoring both their commitment to the school and their community.
The ceremony featured 24-year-old guest speaker Sebastián Rosado Vallejo. Sebastián is an uplifting and motivational public speaker who lives with cerebral palsy, suffers from spastic quadriparesis, and uses a wheelchair. By using real-life experiences and examples, Sebastián encouraged the students to rethink what they believe would be impossible. He, co-created the 5K race “Córrelo, Camínalo o Ruédalo” to benefit the Vidalegre Summer Program that serves patients with a variety of neurological conditions. Sebastián can be followed on social media with the handler Sebastian: My Endless Race.
Ms. Maritere Matosantos, TD Senior Principal, echoed Sebastian's sentiments and addressed the new inductees about their role as TD student leaders, to recognize their achievements but, most importantly, to value the power of failure. Special thanks to Ms. Tamara Texidor, NHS advisor, for organizing the ceremony. Congratulations to all NHS inductees!
